Description

Minnesota State IT Center of Excellence provides FREE Information Technology (IT) curriculum for secondary and postsecondary students, as well as associated teacher training and support. The curriculum covers skills related to the following:

  • Office Productivity Skills
  • Trends and Impacts of Computing
  • Digital Media
  • Computing Systems and IT Services
  • Networks and the Internet
  • Algorithms and Programming
  • Data and Analysis
  • Technology Careers
  • Game Design and Development

While ideally used as a stand-alone course, the materials can be used in-part to complement an existing technology course offering. The extensive IT Exploration materials introduces students to the myriad of IT careers, and the range of computer-based skills and competencies employers are seeking.

Technical Requirements

IT Exploration can be taught out of the box using most basic computer setups. Students will need access to the following to complete the course:

  • High-speed internet access
  • Audio-enabled workstation (required for some activities)
  • Microsoft Office 2010 or later (or an equivalent spreadsheet program)
