This course product contains the introductory course in the high school AFNR course series. The Foundations in AFNR & STEM Careers course introduces students to the range of agricultural opportunities and the pathways of study they may pursue. All four pillars of STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) along with reading, writing and oral communication skills are integrated throughout this course.
This intro course will focus on the past, present and future of America’s agriculture industry and the impact technology continues to make. Students will explore the seven AFNR sub-clusters. Students will also research career and college opportunities in each area of the sub-clusters featured throughout the course.

MODULE 1 - What is AFNR?
Students will be introduced to AFNR, Agricultural History, and STEM skills.
MODULE 2 - Agribusiness Systems & Marketing
Students will learn about the field of agribusiness, economics, and marketing.
MODULE 3 - Animal Systems
Students will learn more about the field of animal systems, husbandry, and welfare.
MODULE 4 - Biotechnology
Students will learn more about the field and science of agricultural biotechnology.
MODULE 5 - Food Production & Processing
Students will learn about the field of food production, processing, and safety.
MODULE 6 - Natural Resource & Environmental Systems
Students will learn about the field of natural resources and environmental systems.
MODULE 7 - Plant Systems & Horticulture
Students will learn about the field of plant systems and horticulture.
MODULE 8 - Ag Power, Structure, & Technology
Students will learn about agricultural technology and precision agriculture.
MODULE 9 - SAE Project & Careers Education
Students will complete the SAE project and explore related careers.
