STEM Fuse was born in my mind in February of 2008. It left my mind and hit a square, bar height, kitchen table in Sartell, Minnesota in 2009. It now consists of 11 employees and at least that many more contributing contractors along with a second office in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Things have changed and we have grown, but the original concept has not. We were founded with the simple goal of promoting and improving STEM education. We decided to do this by developing high quality, easily taught STEM curricula but with two major features:

  1. We must truly interest and engage students
  2. Our courses must be affordable and practical to implement

I am very proud to say that we are succeeding. We are now taught in over 5,000+ schools in all 50 States and five foreign countries! This didn’t happen because of one individual or even because of my original 2008 idea. This has happened because STEM Fuse is made up of a fantastically awesome, creative, fun, hard-working, dedicated, passionate team of people. We love what we do. We are lucky and we know it.

Carter Tatge

I am a relatively boring guy. My perfect day – my Ferris Bueller Day - would be: hanging out in a classroom full of curious kids either designing something on the computer or performing a “non-sanctioned” chemistry experiment, grab a Bobby Flay cheeseburger for lunch, find my 3 adult kids and head to Target Field to watch the MN Twins win, chase that victory with a strawberry shake, catch an episode or two of Modern Family and hit the hay being grateful for how lucky I am. I also have a passion for STEM education and believe we have just scratched the surface – of just about anything and everything

My name is Jake Trombetta and I am the Chief Mathematics writer for Stem Fuse’s math courses. I have been teaching middle school math for 14 years. After teaching for a few years, I started to write and develop middle school math resources that engage students. Luckily after seven years of working on this project, I met the people at STEM Fuse. I am so excited to be part of a company that shares my passion for implementing STEM courses that motivates students in a teacher-friendly format. When I am not developing math courses, I enjoy spending time with my family (wife and dog) and being active outdoors playing golf, tennis, or riding my bike.

Hello! My name is Kari Tatge and I am the Director of Sales and Marketing for the East/Central Region for STEM Fuse Division. Since taking on this position in 2011, I have quickly built terrific relationships with teachers and schools across the nation. I grew up in Alexandria, MN and currently work at the Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC). I have been part of ATCC as both a professor and a dean for the past 16 years. As an instructor, I taught Liberal Arts courses such as composition and public speaking. While in administration, I managed the Business, Business Technology, Design, Marketing, Liberal Arts, and Online/distance delivery divisions of the college. As part of the Minnesota State College and University system, I have had the opportunity to be part of the state board for credentialing, a Lumina initiative called the DQP, Distance MN, and Quality Matters. As part of the National Association of Professional Women, in 2008, I was named a “Woman of the Year” in the field of educational leadership. My educational background includes bachelor degrees in English and Communications from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in Communications from Saint Cloud State University, and a PhD in Management, with a specializing in Knowledge Management, from Walden University to be completed in 2014. In 2012, I was excited to start working with STEMFuse. I have enjoyed being a part of creating and organizing course curriculum, as well as working with transfer opportunities and state standards. The STEMFuse organization draws on my experience as an educator in a technical college, online and distance delivery manager, and on a personal belief that students should be challenged and given opportunities to explore career fields in order to benefit them personally, but also to strengthen our work force. At a time when student loan debt is at an all-time high, it is increasingly important for students to make smart choices and take advantage of opportunities to move forward in their career paths; STEMFuse is part of this.
